"The brooch is a hollow form heart, hand fabricated in sterling silver. The surface is adorned with 23 1/2 karat gold, utilizing the keum boo technique. The top has an inverted oval area, beaded with long, baroque Biwa pearls that thus protrude from inside/the top of the heart element. The brooch fastens with a double pin back. The surface of the metals is both dark and golden, rough and shiny, the pearls both irregular and satiny, bringing to mind a sense of being battered, yet still strong and unwavering." - Boline Strand
