Kiss the Frog Brooch

"I find these pearls at mineral shows then they ask me to make them into something. This one asked to be a frog, which I didn't think I could do so I tried all sorts of other ideas first. It could only be a frog. When I was making it, I thought it looked like a cross between Toad in Wind in the Willows and Humpty Dumpty. Then I realized- kissing frogs, of course! So kiss the frog and get the pearl or the wish or whatever. Get something good. It's slightly heavy, about 1.6 oz. Not for thin cotton. I designed the silver part in the computer program, Zbrush, 3d printed in a castable resin, then cast. I do all the finishing work. This particular patina took me hours to get it right. I wanted frog texture and as much frog color as I could get with silver." -Kathleen King
