"I make playful, wearable abstract sculptures that highlight the inherent formal properties of secondhand domestic objects and post-consumer plastics such as dishes, toys, and yard tools. Since childhood I’ve been surrounded by plastic objects, and I’m inspired by the potential of reusing materials that have ties to memory and everyday life. I transform these materials through a process that blends improvisation and formalism. I deconstruct the objects before reassembling them into dynamic compositions that obscure their original function. The resulting forms emphasize movement, agency, and abstraction, inviting viewers to engage physically through holding or wearing, and to reflect on their own relationships with plastic, consumer culture, and domestic life." -Katie Kameen
