"The Diversion Channel Brooch series explores forms and shapes inspired by the rugged concrete structures designed to redirect flood-waters throughout the city of Albuquerque. These channels run throughout the area like arteries, providing navigation routes for wildlife, a canvas for graffiti artists, and a refuge for folks living on the streets. These subtle narrowing curves are loosely based off a section in the Northeast Heights, near “Bear Canyon.” Each brooch is hollow fabricated, with the ends left open allowing anything that enters to be redirected as it exits. Designed to be worn as is or adorned with your favorite flower as a boutonniere, this brooch features a double pin stem and hollow fabricated catch." - William McConnell
