William McConnell, Diversion Channel Brooch No.2
Sterling silver, high carbon steel
2.5 x 1 x .25 inch
"The Diversion Channel Brooch series explores forms and shapes inspired by the rugged concrete structures designed to redirect flood-waters throughout the city of Albuquerque. These channels run throughout the area like arteries, providing navigation routes for wildlife, a canvass for graffiti artists, and a refuge for folks living on the streets. This slow curve intersecting at a tighter corner is loosely based off an underground section in the Uptown area, running under Interstate 40. Each brooch is hollow fabricated, with the ends left open allowing anything that enters to be redirected as it exits. Designed to be worn as is or adorned with your favorite flower as a boutonniere, this brooch features a double pin stem and hollow fabricated catch." - William McConnell
